How Much Does It Cost To Join Fenway Golf Club? [Facts!]

Sharing is Caring

Fenway Golf Club is one of the most prestigious golf clubs in the world. The club was founded in 1912 and has played an important part in the game’s history. With the World Golf Championships coming to Boston in just three short years, it will be fascinating to watch how the club continues to evolve and grow.

The cost to join Fenway Golf Club is relatively high, but it’s not extortionately so. You have to consider the priceless value that comes with being a member of such a historic club. While it’s not cheap, the joining fee of $250,000 covers the cost of membership and insurance for the year. However, you’ll have to pay for your own transportation to and from the club. The good news is that once you’ve joined, the annual cost of membership is only around $50,000.

The Biggest Amenities

One of the biggest draws of the Fenway Golf Club is undoubtedly the world-class golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The 18-hole course opened in 1968 and is one of the most challenging courses in the world. The most expensive tee box is $250,000, and a single hole costs around $40,000 to play. While Nicklaus may not have managed to eliminate all the sand traps and water traps that infested his previous courses, he did manage to rid the place of all the rough patches of land. In their place, he put down beautiful green fairways that are just waiting to be played. It would be a shame to miss out on such a course simply because of the price point.

Along with the Jack Nicklaus Course, the Fenway Golf Club also has an Arnold Palmer Course, which also designed by Nicklaus. The 12-hole Arnold Palmer Course opened in 1994 but has not been maintained to the same high standards as the Nicklaus Course. The most expensive tee box is $125,000, and a single hole costs around $12,500. Like the Jack Nicklaus Course, the Arnold Palmer Course has also been improved upon with the addition of several ponds and bridges to spice up the game.

The Atmosphere

The atmosphere at the Fenway Golf Club is as good as it gets. As well as world-class golf courses, the club also boasts a private beach, a lake, and a pool. The club was designed with the help of several famous architects and it pays homage to the area’s history. Fenway’s membership roster also boasts several high-profile individuals, such as Bill Gates, Henry Kissinger, and Ted Turner. The atmosphere created by such famous faces, with its mix of fame and power, is enough to make anyone feel special.

The cost of food and drinks is very expensive at the club, especially since you have to be a member to order them. Fortunately, this is one area where the cost is not astronomical. Other memberships at prestigious clubs around the world cost a lot more, so it is fair to compare the prices here. There is also an unofficial rule that states members must not talk about the cost of food and drinks at the club, so you’ll have to get creative with your bartering if you want a drink!

The Social Side

The social side of the Fenway Golf Club is as good as, if not better than, the game itself. The club hosts numerous events throughout the year, including golf tournaments, parties, and corporate events. As well as offering an excellent game, the club also provides an excellent social platform for its members.

The club’s dining room is another highlight. Designed by the famous architect Arthur Ross, the room is a masterpiece. The ceiling is made of wood and the walls are finished in marble. There are also some beautiful antique furnishings and a huge wine list. You can easily spend a good ten to fifteen minutes just walking around the room and looking at the walls, which are plastered with posters of famous golfers. If you’re lucky enough to be invited to one of the club’s famous dinner parties, where everyone comes dressed to the nines, then it’s worth every penny.

The best part of the social side is that you don’t have to be a member to attend the events. The club welcomes non-members as well and offers them a discounted rate for parties and events. If you’d like to learn more, call us today!

The History

One of the most important aspects of the Fenway Golf Club is its history. Not only is the club the official host of the 2021 World Golf Championships, it is also the place where golfers from around the world come to test their skills and make memories. Jack Nicklaus himself once said, “Fenway is a special place. It’s been a home for many of us. And it will be a special place when the World Golf Championships come here in 2021.”

It would be a missed opportunity not to mention the historic links that have been played at the club. The great Harry Vardon, who is considered to be the father of modern golf, frequently came here to play. It was at Fenway that he played his biggest match of the year against Captain Sam Sneed. On this occasion, Vardon accused Sneed of cheating and the dispute was not resolved until President Theodore Roosevelt himself stepped in and settled matters. It was here that Arnold Palmer also played against Jack Nicklaus in the last of three matches in 1961. During their match, Palmer suggested they play a “practice” match before the real thing, which Nicklaus agreed to.

The greatest moment at Fenway, however, came in 1969, when Jack Nicklaus won his 10th title and tied the record held by Tiger Woods. Four years later, he went on to break the record and win his 11th title. It was then that the phrase, “It’s good to be the king,” was uttered for the first time.

As well as being the place where golfing greats play, it is also the place where they train. Several of the game’s top stars live and breathe golf and spend a lot of time here, perfecting their craft and preparing for the upcoming year. If you’re looking for a way to spend a day out with friends while also being surrounded by some of the greatest minds in the game, then look no further than the Fenway Golf Club.
