Morris County Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course in Morristown, New Jersey. It opened for play in 1927 and is currently maintained by the Club. The course was designed by A.W. Tillinghast – one of the most well-known golf course architects in the world. Morris County is a private club with an impressive membership, with approximately 500 members as of 2014.

What Is The Course Like?
Visitors to the course will find that it features a combination of natural and synthetic turf, with a bit of sand in spots to provide a bit more challenge. It is a scenic 9.8-mile course with rolling hills, pine forests and stone walls. There are also a few ponds to provide some interesting challenges – especially since there are no real shots at playing golf around them!
The front nine is very open, and consists mostly of flat, wide-open spaces. This encourages a free-style swing and allows golfers to make some long shots. However, the back nine is an altogether different story. Here you will encounter more wooded areas and smaller ponds, and the fairway will narrow, curving and getting more interesting the more you play it. Also, while the front nine has mostly sunny days as a routine, the back nine is usually shrouded in clouds and fog. One of the things you will learn at Morris County Golf Club is to enjoy the moment and take it all in, because the weather may not be up for it very long!
Morris County is a private club, so you will not find any signage on the course to indicate which member owns which hole. But you will find plenty of clues and hidden treasures, with references to famous people and events in history. If you have a keen eye and remember what you’ve learned, you will be able to complete the course without any problems.
How Many Stars Do I Get?
When you join Morris County Golf Club, you get three stars. You then have the option of getting four or five stars, depending on the time of day and whether or not you pay in advance for your golf lessons. If you decide to get a fourth star, you will get a discount on your greens fees.
What Amenities Does The Club Offering?
The amenities at the Morris County Golf Club are pretty impressive. In addition to the beautiful golf course, the club has an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness center, a sundry shop that offers a variety of snacks and beverages, and a fully staffed pro-shop. What more could you ask for?
The Club also provides a variety of activities for residents and visitors, such as bocce ball, shuffleboard, ping pong, and paintball. In addition, the Club has a putting green that is specifically designed for children. They also have miniature golf for those who want to save some energy for their fun on the golf course!
A great way to enjoy your visit to Morris County is by taking a stroll or ride around the perimeter of the golf course. You will notice that there is a stone wall that encloses the entire course, except for the putting green, and it is made of the same material as the golf course itself – granite! This gives you a great photo op, since this is one place in New Jersey where you will not find any billboards or buildings, as all of them are made of stone.

The golfers’ amenities at Morris County Golf Club are also very impressive. The first thing you will notice is the range of golf equipment rentals, from golf carts to clubs. Next to the golf range, you will find the swimming pool and a fully equipped gymnasium.
