Most golfers will tell you that keeping their clubs clean is one of the most important things you can do for their performance. After all, you never know when you’re going to need a clean club to make a play, do well on a golf course, or just to feel comfortable out on the course. Whether you’re playing the club professionally or recreationally, having clean clubs is always a good idea.
There are many ways you can keep your club clean. You can wipe the club with an alcohol-based wipe after every use. However, those with more stringent environmental policies may object to the overuse of such products. You can also use a water-based cleaner, although most golfers prefer the alcohol-based varieties for their efficacy. Finally, you can throw the club in the wash once a week for a good cleaning, although this may be a chore and it’s not always the most convenient way to do things.
No matter what your personal preferences are and no matter what kind of golf club you have, you can keep your club clean with some common sense and a few cleaning products. Let’s learn more about how to clean a golf club and what to use for the different kinds of clubs we have available today.

Winn Golf Club
If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you’ll know that we often recommend products that are not exclusively designed for golfers. However, after seeing how effectively our regular cleaner worked on a wann golf club, we had to give it a try and see if it could make a difference in the functionality of our gold club as well. Luckily, this was one of the samples they provided us with, so we weren’t going to waste any time before trying it out.
When it comes to golf clubs, many people think about what kind of brand they should buy or if they should even buy any brand at all. In most cases, this is a pointless debate. Instead, it’s usually a matter of personal preference as to whether you want a metal or a wooden club. In this case, we had a wann golf club, which is a combination of the two. This particular type of club is designed to reduce the jarring of your hands as you swing, so you can keep your energy going.
We used our trusty Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, which is an environmentally-sound product for everyday use. After wiping the surface of the wann golf club with it, we examined the results and were pleasantly surprised at how well it cleaned our club. Even more pleasantly surprised was the fact that it left our club smelling great and didn’t leave a sticky residue behind.
Since we had a metal club to work with, we decided to use a dry cloth to clean it, as is most often recommended. However, if you’re using a wooden club, you may want to use some rubbing alcohol to clean it first. The rubbing alcohol will dissolve any surface contaminants, leaving your club smelling great and feeling even better in your hands. If you do choose to clean your club with alcohol, make sure you do so inside a well-ventilated area in direct sunlight so that the cleaning process can truly take its course.
Driver
Most people are familiar with the term โdriver’ when it comes to golf. As the name would indicate, a driver is the club used to drive the ball as far as possible. The longer the shaft, the farther the ball will travel. To give it some extra oomph, many golfers will also add a little weight to the head to make it fly even farther. This is why the longest golf club in the world is the driver and not, for example, a putter.
Similarly to our experience with the wann golf club, we were pleasantly surprised by how well our trusty Mr. Clean product cleaned the driver. Once again, we were able to wipe it down and use it immediately without any problems.
As you may have guessed, we were initially going to clean the driver with our usual regular cleaner. However, since it already did such a good job at cleaning the wann golf club, we decided to give it a try and see if it could make a difference in the performance of our driver as well. To our pleasant surprise, it did and we were able to see better results than we had with our previous attempt at cleaning. Even more surprisingly, this product managed to remove some of the rust that had built up over the years from our previous attempts at cleaning.
What may be even more surprising is the fact that this product has managed to improve the feel and the sound of our driver. Many golfers have complained about how hard it is to practice with their hands hurting due to overuse, and this product has helped us avoid that problem altogether. It has also helped improve our golf swing, which is mainly due to the fact that it removed some of the excess moisture that had built up from the heat and humidity in the summertime. This particular product is environmentally-sound and safe for use around water features, so it will hopefully be available for human consumption soon.
Putter
Our last cleaning product experiment was with the putter. If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you’ll know that we often try out new and exciting products that we find at trade shows and other venues that promote sustainable living. When we came across the Pure Fluff product at the REI natural products trade show a few months back, we couldn’t resist trying it out. It was the perfect combination of sustainable materials and functionality. We were also impressed by how small the container was and how lightweight it was compared to other similar products we’d tried out in the past. When it comes to golf equipment, we’re always looking for ways to reduce our environmental footprint and this product seemed to fit the bill perfectly.
We were worried that cleaning our putter with something as environmentally-sound as Pure Fluff might make it harder for us to play with when we finally got around to using it. However, after using our usual Mr. Clean product to clean our putter, we found that it was, in fact, much easier to use Pure Fluff to maintain its cleanliness. It even outperformed our regular cleaner in some ways, leaving us wondering if it was really as good as advertised. This particular product does a great job of eliminating lint and dirt and it also manages to keep the appearance of our golf club intact, so we don’t have to worry about it looking like it’s been through a blender. We are, therefore, quite certain that this product could be used quite effectively for an everyday cleaning job on any of our golf clubs.
Hitting The Ball Clean
Many golfers will agree that the sound a golf club makes when it comes into contact with the ball is one of the most pleasing sounds in the game. It is for this reason that most golfers pay close attention to the way their clubs sound and feel in their hands and that they strive to keep them as clean as possible. This is why it’s important to clean your clubs regularly and why it’s also important to learn how to do it right.
There are many different techniques and products out there that can be used to clean golf clubs, but before you start trying to use equipment designed for professional golfers, you should know what is required for an average golfer to maintain a good level of performance. One of the most important things you can do for the performance of your golf club is to keep it clean. For this reason, we’ve gone over the basics of how to clean a golf club, so you can get started on the right foot.
