The course is in excellent condition, boasting 6,945 yards of fairways and 6,945 additional yards of par-3’s. teeing off from the blue tees, this course is the perfect alternative for someone looking to avoid the crowded clubs in the area.

The History Of Shark Tooth

Shark Tooth Golf Club was originally opened for play in March of 2015 and designed by renowned golf course architect Joe Durant. It originally opened as a 9-hole course and expanded to 18-holes in early 2017.

The course was inspired by the classic Florida golf courses of the 1950’s and 1960’s that had large tracts of land and were designed to evoke memories of a simpler time while still providing players with a challenging round of golf.

Durant was inspired by courses he saw while touring the Bahamas in 2012, such as The Old Bahama Golf Club and Pine Crest. Those two courses are well-known for having some of the most famous holes in the world and have been featured in a Foursome Of Golf’s Most Famous Holes video. The video’s description reads, “The Old Bahama is known for having some of the most famous holes in golf. Many regard the stretch of tees between the Nos. 7 and 8 holes as one of the most scenic stretches of golf in the world. Few holes are more famous than the one located on this stretch, known as ‘Rowan’s Creek,’ after former U.S. Open champion, James A. Rowan. In fact, the Nos. 7 and 8 holes were featured in a Foursome Of Golf video in 2016 as being among the five most famous holes in the world. At Pine Crest, Durant saw what he envisioned as a hybrid between Blue Bay and Pinehurst, with a bristlecone pines theme.

Durant designed an open fairway and collection of short and long holes that give players of all skill levels plenty to shoot for. Although the course is in excellent condition, he did note there are a few areas that need some maintenance, especially since it is such a popular course. For example, parts of the course need some clearing around the greens to allow for more natural grass growth and irrigation. Still, given its popularity, he noted the course is in good shape and is looking forward to seeing it thrive.

What To Watch Out For

There are a few things that prospective players should keep in mind when considering playing at Shark Tooth. The first is the distance to the green. As noted above, the shortest hole is only 50 yards while the longest one is 764. Since there are no bunkers or sand traps to speak of, every hole is pretty much a โ€˜putt-putt’ for the money. The second is that there are no carts or carts allowed on the course. Finally, the last thing worth noting is that only GOLF BINGO cards are accepted as payment on this course. Pro-tip: If you do not have a GOLF BINGO card, you can get one at most sports stores or online at golftravelcards.com. The card is accepted at almost all the course’s restaurants and bars, so you can enjoy a post-round beverage without having to worry about paying for it with cash.

Woods also co-owns the course, which he plays with his Foundation. In addition to the above, Shark Tooth offers a fun and entertaining children’s program called Camp Tiger Woods, which was started in March of 2017. During the week-long camp, children ages 6-14 can participate in lessons with the great Tiger Woods himself, either individually or in small groups. They also get to play mini-golf, take a ride on a golf simulator, and get to meet other kids their age who also love golf. During the final round, the campers decorate a green with trees, bushes, and whatever they can find on the spot. This is followed by the presentation of the campers’ creations by Tiger Woods and other prominent guests. Parents and grandparents are also invited to attend this ceremony and have their photos taken with the campers.

Getting The Hues

Tiger Woods is the master of the green, which he refers to as the โ€˜hues’. After hitting a nice, smooth tee shot, he will often stop and look at the green for a moment before hitting another one. Due to his keen eye for detail, it would be a shame to not take advantage of his craftiness by trying out one of his famous greens. Many have tried, with mixed results. The most popular one is the 14th hole at the Trump National Golf Club, which is also known as the โ€˜Fabulous Foursome. Playing through a brisk wind, Tiger had everyone from Gary McCord to Tiger Woods himself saying the hole was the best they’d ever played. Unfortunately, that claim did not stand the test of time. The green is a par-4, boasting a very open, sweeping view of a lake. Since that is such a distinctive hole, it became a target for many. It is also the most photographed hole on the course. Still, Tiger does have another green, the 17th, that he calls โ€˜The Superb.’ Due to its proximity to the green and the fact that it is a par 5, it is often referred to as โ€˜The Race to the Green.’ Even people who have never watched golf often know what this hole is.

When asked about the differences between the 14th and 17th greens, Tiger explained, โ€œThe 14th green is a magnificent example of how you can take a standard golf hole and make it into something special. It is one of the few holes on the course that has elevation changes, giving you a real sense of scale. The view from the tee box is phenomenal. Once you hit a putt, the vista changes completely, as you are looking down on the 15th fairway from the 17th tee. There is also an amphitheater-like setting on the 18th fairway that you cannot find anywhere else on the course. The difference between the two is in the details. The 14th hole is a true test of golfing artistry. The architect and designer must have felt the same way, as they have left everything open and natural, allowing for lots of growth and change. Everyone can enjoy this course, as it reminds them of days gone by, while still providing challenges for the better player. โ€

Playing The Course

Due to its wide expanse and open layout, anyone can play this course, regardless of their skill level. It also does not require a great deal of strength to navigate its six evenly marked tees. After completing a few holes, it is also not hard to see why it is so popular with visitors to the area. As mentioned above, it is a combination of Blue Bay and Pinehurst, with some of the best grasses and pines that you will find on any golf course in the country. There are also a few lakes, which add to the beauty of the spot. The challenging design also makes it such that anyone can have a good time, regardless of their skill level.

One aspect that makes this course special is how it changes as the sun sets. The air is cool and crisp, and the sky turns an enchanting shade of orange and purple. While most places tend to lose some of their luster after the sun sets, Shark Tooth Golf Club still has plenty of it, giving you a beautiful view of the sunset and an extra challenge to beat it.
