How To Remove Windshield On A Club Car Golf Cart? [Solved!]

Sharing is Caring

A lot of people consider owning a golf cart to be one of the luxury items of life. There is just something about being able to roll down the street, hitting a golf ball that has a certain appeal. Most golf carts come with a windshield to protect the driver from the sun and the rain so if you are among those people then this post is for you. In this article, we will teach you how to remove and clean the windshield on your golf cart so that you can feel more comfortable taking it on the road.

Steps To Remove Window On A Club Car

Taking your golf cart for a spin is definitely a luxury. You can make your daily commute much more enjoyable by removing the windshield. This is easily done by following these simple steps:

1. Identify The Remedy

As with any machine, regular maintenance is required to keep it in good working order. One of the simplest ways to ensure this is by removing dirt and grime that builds up over time from the inside of the windshield. You can use a brush or some canned air to give it a quick cleaning once a month or every other month.

If you have a more frequent cleaning schedule then you probably need to replace the windshield itself. This can be a costly repair and depending on where you live, it may be difficult to get it serviced. If this is the case then it is best to remove it and replace it with another.

2. Locate The Torque Locks

Another reason to remove the windshield is that it prevents you from locking the wheels of the golf cart when in reverse gear. To engage the reverse gear, you must first unlock the front wheels by pressing a button on the steering wheel. To do this, you will need to locate the torque locks on the front of the vehicle.

These are found by pressing the button down until it locks and then pulling back on the steering wheel. The button must then be released and the vehicle can be driven in either direction.

3. Disconnect The Battery

The third step is to disconnect the battery when removing the windshield. To do this, you will first need to locate the positive and negative terminals on the underside of the hood. You will then need to loosen the bolts that hold the hood down and raise it away from the cart. Once this is done, you can pull back on the hood to raise it up and expose the terminals.

Raise the hood, expose the terminals and disconnect the battery. If you are planning on being away from home for some time then it is best to remove the battery so it does not run down while you are gone.

4. Lift The Tires

The last step is to remove the tires from the rims. You will need to use a pry bar to lift up on the lug nuts that hold the tires on the rims. Once the nuts are lifted, you can remove the tires and set them aside in your garage or storage shed.

This is quite an easy process and should only take a few minutes to an hour to complete. When all is said and done, you will realize that there is a noticeable difference in your golf cart’s feel and demeanor without a windshield.
